House in Yokoo

The site faces a major road of the city with much traffic. On the other hand, the behind of this site, calm circumstances of the region is left yet, and we can see the mountain ranges from there.

When I designed it, I thought about follow 2 things. To protect the houseroom from the noise and eyes from the road. At the same time, to take a lot of nature and atmosphere special to the region in inside.

I avoided surrounding the site by a wall, made the building in itself to the edge of the site. The circumference part of the building is wrapped in glass. The inside of this glass is fresh air.I made a gentle border area for the outside by using the volume of air.
The ventilation is secured by opening the sliding door in the circumference part.Internal space is opened for fresh air enough while protected from outside.

A terrace next to the courtyard where invite even the rain is filled with the fresh air. By opening the sliding doors, the living room and the Japanese-style room arranged around terrace are united with semi-outdoors space filled with fresh air.
This semi-outdoor space is the corridor to join each room, is the extended living, and is the inner-garden where children play.
The noise from outside are interrupted by not only buffering zone in the circumference, but also the volume of assistant space such as storeroom, a doghouse that arranged in the between internal space and the road.
A beautiful country life (people threw a window open, and enjoy the change of the four seasons and the climate.) is realized at this site along the highway.
